(Joel and Linda)
Well this month is a birthday month with both Linda myself and Chris is celebrating our birthdays. I am not sure how we are going to celebrate the occasion but maybe just another day of the month. Chris is turning 39 this month and we hope we can make it down either this month or next for a visit to him and Shelley.
Linda and the sisters got together and spent time visiting and just plain doing girl things. Here are the girls as they appeared for me out on the deck in the back yard.

(Bob and Joellen)
The loft is coming along fine and we only have a few boards to finish off the last end wall. Gordy from Antigo was able to pickup the remaing 8 boards we need to finish off the wall and hopefully we will be able this month to finish off the wall.

(Joel and Linda)
Well the start of the month is off with a bang. Linda is working hard on the upstairs bathroom and that is requiring sanding the old paint and working on the walls making them ready for the paint primer. We have the new sink, cabinet and medicine cabinet and the wall had to be opened up for that. This house was built when dry wall first came out and it was very thick so when I had to cut the wall open I distroyed numerous saw blades. Hopefully we will be able to show after pictures of the bathroom and it will be a lot nicer. We are going to put in new flooring as this floor had been in since the 30’s when the house was built. We will also need a new light fixture and that would be the last item to get.
Before

After

I have been working on the banisters on the stairwell and have them in for a while but there is more work to be done with paint on the walls as soon as we can figure out how to put a ladder on the stairs and then stain the railings.

(Bob and Joellen)
Well the Milwaukee Wisc summerfest kicked off in late June and early July and Sara had a chance to play sax in the Jazz band at the fest.

(Joel and Linda)
Well this month is starting off with a trip to Racine so Linda, Joellen and the girls can go to the bead show in Milwaukee. Then later on mid month we are going to take the 5th wheel and get some repairs done to it and then go to Grand Marais Mi for a stay. I am hoping that the place is nice and we can do some fishing on Lake Superior. There is another camp grounds near Mackinaw Mi that I think would be a nice place to go and if we do we will post pictures for both camp grounds later on in this month.
Well we are in the Grand Marais camp ground up in the UP of michigan. We had to get the camper repaired in Rhinelander, Wi. The camp ground is great and we have cable, water, electricity, internet, but no sewer. Well this is not a problem as there is a business that pumps holding tanks on Sundays for $15. Well can’t beat that.

I was watching a news special on TV one evening about cruise ships and this special was about Norwegin Cruise line. It ran an hour and was real interesting and I learned that the ship we were on on our Honey Moon cruise back in 1986 was retired and sunk at an undisclosed loaction in the Atlantic ocean. It was one of the largest cruise ships and built orginally by the French and converted to a major cruise ship and was something to remember taking the cruise on it.
Well we are looking at the opening up of the yard for the summer and we put an umbrella that used to be in the back yard and placed it in the front and then purchased a different larger umbrella in the back yard deck. I think we will like this arrangement for cook outs and just plain sitting and enjoying the outdoors.

We are starting off the month with a little cold weather here in the UP and this is the start of Lindas time off for the next 7 months. We have not identified our activities but we are planning a trip to Racine to visit Joellen and the family. Linda wants to do some beading and they girls are going to get together and learn for a few days. It will be nice to get out of town and go a little south as the weather has to be warmer then it is here.
We are hoping for some warmer days so we can get out to the camper and the garage to open up, get the battery in and drain the RV antifreeze out of the tank and plumbing.

Gerard Flynn
Well with a surprise communications from and old co-worker from back in the late 70’s when we both worked at Gettys Mfg. in Racine I wanted to post a family picture of them from Ireland. Gettys had opened a motor manufacturing facility in Ireland and hired people from the area and Gerard was one of the many that came on board. We have had nice chats via emails and shared family pictures and caught up on old times. We both admitted we have changed over the many years and have had some health issues but we are still planning to forge ahead in life and see where it take us. We plan to stay intouch and see how many of the old group we can contact to see how they are doing.

75 Buick
Well we are still waiting for some warmer weather till we can get the old 75 Buick out on the road and see how she runs.

(Joel and Linda)
Well this month started off like a cold lion and we are sure looking forward to spring. Linda is winding down at work now and she, as of today the 4th, has only 3 weeks and 3 days left to work. She is going to take the next 7 months off and we are going to work around the house and yard and also do some traveling with the 5th wheel.

(Murphy aka Barkley)
Well it has been time for Murphy to get a hair cut and this time we went to a new grommer near the house that, after a 3 hour hair cut, turned out to be a great place. The name of the place was “Airport Molleys” and she sure did a great job. He was a little nervice because of a bad hair cut one other time but he did real well this time.

(Goldie)
Our poor cat never gets any notoriety so this month I though I would show some pictures of her. She is 8 1/2 years old and she and Murphy are always at odds with each other but maybe they are just playing. Goldie out weighs Murphy by 2 to 1 but they are always on top of one another and just apperantly like to play, when Goldie isn’t sleeping after a nice can of tuna.

(Taits Coffee Cabin)
Well this is my favorite spot for coffee on the weekends. I always go there in the morning around 8:00 am and spend time with Andy and the guys that show up from time to time for coffee and cookies or Kringle. We bring our laptops and use the WI-FI access there and surf and analayze the electronics of the day. Amy has just tons of books to read or buy and she is an avid reader of all kinds of authors. Andy and Amy own the Taits Coffee Cabin on Cloverland Drive in Ironwood. So if you are traveling thru town on Hwy 2 stop and see the excellent selection of coffee mixes and snacks.

Joel and Linda
This month is starting of kinda slow and with the cold weather in the below zero temperatures we have not been doing a lot out doors. We are looking forward to some warmer weather and hopefully get to feel like being human again. Linda is working hard and looking forward to the seasons close of the ski hil and she plans to just relax for the next 7 months. Undecided about going back to work in the fall or just sit and do beading and smell the roses.
I have been helping Glenn with his computer problems over the phone and he finally has it going which is good. Now he can as I have to get back to the taxes as that will be coming due on April 15th. Not looking forward to seeing what the accountant has to say this year.
Looking forward to getting the 75 Buick out of storage and drive it in some warmer weather. It has been a while.

Randy and Marg
Well we have a family picture of the Schmitt family that I thought I would post and it is growing. I wont list all the family members names now but wow this is some get together for the family.

Bob and Joellen
We are looking forward to getting more pictures of the grand kids on the blog but they all have been so busy that we have not gotten much. Anyway here is Sara’s class picture that we can post and as a teen she is growing up and looking more like a young women.

Chris and Shelley
We have not gotten the wedding pictures as yet from the profesional photographer and looking forward to them as soon as they send us a disk of all that pictures that they took.

Joel and Linda
Our trip for Chris and Shelleys wedding started off with a visit with Glenn and Kathy Clark and had a chance to get their computers on line once again after a period of being off the internet. The second day we ran into some ice and rain in central Illinois and had to make a stop in Effingham Illinois. Glenn and Kathy stopped also at the same motel and we had a great time. On the third day we pushed the enevelope to get to Magnolia Arkansas and made it late in the evening and we crashed instantly. The following day was just wonderful with warm weather and a tour of the town while stopping to get our Tuxes fitted. We had lunch with the kids and put together the plan for the rest of the week.
Well the day of the wedding was just beautiful and we stayed at a Bed and Breakfast where the wedding was held. All had a good time at the wedding and it was a beautiful event.
Bob and Joellen
Bob and Joellen and the grand kids came for Christmas and we had a great time. They all went skiing and then we had dinner and celebrated Christmas the previous evening. Sara tried snow boarding but decided it was not for her and went back to skiing.

Chris and Shelley
Well the wedding went well with some minor last minute hitches that delayed the ceremoney for about a half hour but then with a bang it went like clock work. Glenn and Kathy Clark attended the wedding and Glenn was a Groomsman and Joel was Best Man. Linda and Shelleys mom were enjoying the ceremoney and had a chance to chat and share family stories.

We are ramping up to the trip to Chris and Shelley’s wedding in Arkansas the end of the month and making lists of things to take. We are going to take the Silverado as if the weather gets bad on the way down we have all the secutity of the big chassis truck. I am planning to ocver the ham bands on the radios and computers on the trip and able to talk back home during the trip. I plan to take a lot of pictures and now movies with the new digital movie camera I bought.
Linda is ramping up at Indianhead with the skiing and things and they are hoping the econome doesn’t ruin the winter for the hill.
Murphy is doing fine and just got a hair cut and now he is looking more like a Yorkie. He is still very busy playing with the cat and running through the snow in the back yard trying to catch a squirrel.
I have been poking around the house and shoveling snow, running errands and packing my stuff for the trip. Got the oil changed in the truck and hope I can find a place to get a truck wash when we get to the kids house.
(Bob and Joellen)
Well Sara closed out the cross country activities for the year at Horlick High and this is time to now get into the winter studies.

(Chris and Shelley)
The kids are getting ready for the wedding the end of the month and all is going well. Linda got her dress shortened and my Tux sizing has been sent down for my outfit. I will be Best Man and Glen Clark, Chris’s uncle, will stand up in the wedding also.

Joel and Linda
Well you can’t start off November with out some activities involving Holloween. Linda dressed up for the visiting kids and we had a good time. Murphy had to get into the sceam of things so we had to have a picture of him and Linda.

We are getting into fall and have put away all of the deck furniture and worked out in the yard. The camper is winterized and buttoned up for the winter.
We are slowly getting ready for our trip to Arkansas for Chris and Shelley’s wedding. I am going to be best man and that is great for me and also Chris and Shelley. Linda is busy working on her dress alterations and flower arrangements for the wedding. We hope we can get everything into the Silverado and get it safely to Arkansas. I have planned the reoute we are going to take and it looks like 1825 miles that will take 2 days to drive. We are going to drive 10 hours a day and share driving. We will have the laptop showing us the way during the drive so we wont get lost.

Bob and Joellen
Joellen told Linda she got some new pictures from one of Sara’s cross country meets. Another parent took these and put them on a picture sharing site. They’re good ones. She’s known for being all smiles right before she crosses the finish line. They just finished up their season and she finished with her best time ever 21:11 for about 3 miles. She’s ready for next season.

Chris and Shelley
The kids are getting ready for the wedding in December and all is going well. Linda is getting her dress shortened and my Tux sizing has been sent down for my outfit.
