Last month we went to the Creek Casino in Atmore Al. and got a very nice suite we didn’t use much. It was our 25 anniversary the 28th and we wanted to spend it at the casino. Well Linda got a special letter from the casino to stay and 2 buffets plus $100 in play money. Well me not much for gamboling I spent the time surfing and watching TV in the room. I tried to nap but the TV was to interesting while I relaxed in the room. It is to bad we had to leave later that  night but we could not take the dog and cat so we just stayed till around 8:00 pm then drove back to the camper. It was a good time and Linda lost some and won some so all in all we can say we enjoyed our anniversary. If we go back there is a Motel a mile from the casino that takes pets so maybe we will stay there.

Joel and Linda

Well we are on our first leg of the trip south and are camping for a couple of nights in Sycamore Illinois. We will proceed to Bowling Green Mo.

We are down in Osage Beach Mo. for a few days visiting and old school buddy Roger Klauser.  Had a good time on the Lake of the Ozarks and dinner then rest.  This travel is a real drain but we are still heading to our destination. Just a few more days and we will be in Waldo Ark visiting Chris and Shelley. Went through Branson and stopped for gas. No time to sight see.

The loft is just about done and just need to stain the wood and add some corner molding. Once all the staining is done the floor covering can be put down.

(Joel and Linda)

Well we are starting off the month with a rather busy schedule getting prepared for some travel to visit family and then a trip with the camper to Grand Marais Michigan. This is a beautiful place on the shores of Lake Superior and they have special events of fly in’s for sea planes and a city wide rummage in the center of town.

In the Milwaukee area we are also going to visit there is a bead show that Linda and Joellen are going to and they have been planning it for some time.  Well we will see how it goes. I want to visit and tour Racine and look at all the revitalization that has been going on over the years since I left. Looking forward to having lunch at an old resturant called Kewpees, with Dave and Sara, as they have the best hamburgers in town and been in business since the 20′s. I’ll have an old time burger and  a malt!

(Frank and Sara)

We finally found the one!  We’ve been looking for a couple month’s now.  It’s harder than I thought [like a part time job] to find a VW Beetle, in our price range, not in yellow and automatic… what can I say, Jamie’s particular.  I’ve been calling it a purple unicorn because it’s been a mythical creature to this point.

This beauty was listed by a college student who took a job overseas.  I gave the seller $100 to hold the deal until Monday when she should have the title from her parents then we’ll bring it home.  1998 with 77,000 miles and in great shape.  We’ll have to run it up to our mechanic for a state inspection.  It’s made its way from NJ to FL and now to PA.  I don’t expect there isn’t anything too major for fixing but we got it for $3500 so there will still be funds for fixing if need be.

One more week until her 16th birthday then we’re up to the DMV for the permit test and putting the mileage on it.

(Joel and Linda)

Well Linda is winding down at work for this season and looking forward to being home beading and making plans for camping for the summer. I have my Michigan Enhanced Drivers License that allows me to cross the borders and Linda has to get hers yet. Michigan is one of the few border states with Canada that will issue, for $50, a drivers license with a special integrated circuit imbedded in it that, when passed by a card reader, will give the border personal information about you to allow you to cross back and forth over the borders.

We will be getting the new truck out of storage in a few months and get it outfitted for the radios, computers and 5th wheel equipment so we have everything we need to travel comfortably. The change from the Chevy 1500 to the 2500HD will give us more horse power to pull the camper easier but the installation of all the towing equipment will take some time.

Besides camping and traveling this summer we have the kids loft to finish off and Gordy and Chris will be coming to help me and then we plan to make up the out door kitchen also and hopefully we can make it. Making the out door kitchen with the sink we can then have a nice place to do dishes and prepare some things requiring the sink. It will be nice and work well for all of us when we are over at the lot.

(Chris and Shelley)

Well Chris and Shelley are working on their house making it ready for sale so they can buy a family home from a 2nd cousin in Arkansas. We hope the kids can get the new house and get it fixed up for their living experience. We would like to see the house sometime and maybe winter there if we decide the winter here is getting to be to much for us. We wish the kids good luck in their pursuit of the new house.

February

(Joel and Linda)

Well the month started off kinda slow and I was even late posting the entry for the February Blog. Well here it is for starters and we are taking some time way from home and spending it with Kathy, Marg, Smokey and Skippper at the Casino in Lac Du Flambau. The girls wanted to get together with Linda’s  aunt and uncle for a few days. Murphy is at the breeder for  stay while we are gone and I am sure he likes to be with his sibblings and parents from time to time so they can associate with each other. The cat on the other hand likes just to sleep and she does a lot of that even when we are home.

(Willy the puppy)

Well came home from having coffee and went outside with Murphy and saw a puppy stuck in the snow by the house at the fence. Well I got Murphy in the house and walked around the front of the house and waded through 2 feet of snow to get the puppy. It didn’t really like me and I told it it better not bit me and I got my hands around its belly and picked it up. I get it in the house and put it on the couch on a blanket and gave it some food and it ate that an settled down. I called Hope Animal Shelter and they told me that a family got this dog I found from Oregon as a rescue dog and it was 4 years old. It was a Pameranian and a male . The people that owned the dog called me then came and picked the puppy up and was thankful that I found him. He had some medication he has to take at 5 pm so they got him just in time. Well another dog back at their home. Good luck Willy and be safe now.
